Help w/ some wiring

Ok, I'll start off by saying it straight, I know very little about electronics. I ordered some basic strat type pickups and put them in a low end yamaha. This went good so I decided to purchase a new humbucker. I ordered the Dimarzio Dual Sound pick ups and waited 3 weeks to get them and they're finally here.

Anyways, it came with instructions that are very confusing and I'm not sure as to what poles are, or how the new pot that came with it plays in. It has a diagram with things (poles) listed 1-6 yet gives little mention as to where this are.

I do remember where the white wire, and black wire's were attached on the old pickups. I also understand that I could damage or break the pick ups, so don't worry about that, just lend a hand if you know anything.
