I'm wondering which guitarists you like and which you think are the best. I can't think of my favorite guitarist's name and I'm betting someone here will mention them.
There are some country singers that play really well and one of them is Brad Paisley.

I think Vince Gill is a fine player, too.
One of my favourite guitarists was Domenic Troiano, who passed away last year. He was in Bush (not Bush X), Mandala, The James Gang and The Guess Who aside from his solo career. He also composed and scored for TV shows.

Chet Atkins was also a great guitarist, I think.
I still haven't remembered the name of the one I like best. I tried searching and haven't found it that way either. I'll keep looking.

That reminds me of reading Randy Bachman's autobiography. Randy was learning guitar from Lenny Breau, and Lenny suggested checking out some Chet Atkins records.
Randy went to the record store and thought that "Chet Atkins" was a genre, like salsa or reggae. Randy's a fine player, too.
Yes, Chet Atkins is excellent!

I also like Johnny Cash as an all around entertainer. :)
Someone treating Chet Atkins as if he were a genre of it's own reminds me that I feel as if Metallica were a genre of it's own. :) I know it isn't so but I think they're that great.

I was surprised in the last couple years to hear how far Johnny Cash's influence extended. I mean musicians in other styles were saying how much he influenced them.
Didn't he also record a Nine Inch Nails song? Or was it the other way around.
He was great...

Yes he did. It was on his last album and the song was I Hurt or maybe just Hurt. The album was a tribute to his wife who had just passed away. I saw the video on tv many times and it was really sad.

I'd think it would be very hard to play or sing in tribute to a lost loved one.
Another example of an excellent musician doing that was Eric Clapton singing "Tears In Heaven" for his son, I believe. That's a beautiful song.

I'm not familiar with Clapton's "Tears in Heaven". Now I'm curious and will have to hunt for it and listen to it.
I also think it would be really hard to do this, especially a video.

Coming up on many best guitarist lists as #1 (my own included) is Jimi
Hendrix. Other top contenders... hmm, Cobain, Garcia, Richards, and Allman.

I also think those are all good guitarists, destiny. I've done some searching for the one I'm thinking of and still haven't found him.

I have it on "Eric Clapton Unplugged" but I think there's a studio version, too.
It's a great acoustic guitar song with very touching lyrics.

I love the way Elton John played a guitar. Anyone here familiar of the song Candle in the wind? Elton John tribute to Princess Dianayear 1997. Elton John is the best in racking up a string.

Yes, I am familiar with Candle in the Wind by Elton John. It was an amazing song.
I think we've all mentioned a good number of excellent guitarists. I hope we continue to list more. :)

I've never heard of Elton John playing guitar... I know he's a fine pianist, though.
I like Candle In The Wind, too. I first heard it on the Goodbye Yellowbrick Road album in the mid seventies. Its original version was written for Marilyn Monroe.

One of my favorite guitar players lives only a few miles from me, he is a super nice guy and fantastic guitar player, James Burton. One other great player I just heard of lately is Johnny Hiland, check him out on you tube, he is fantastic.
