I'm from Missouri and am a former guitar player who really didn't learn to play much at all. I think I had a poor teacher and I wasn't willing to cut my long finger nails. :rolleyes:

That reminds me of classical guitarist Liona Boyd's long fingernails on her picking hand - Although I'm sure she trims them short on her fretboard hand.

Maybe you could leave your nails long and play slide? ;)

My teacher was kind of a cranky old woman and at every lesson she said, "cut your fingernails". She was also my piano teacher and hated the clicking on the keys when I played.

I think at that age, I had just enough of a rebel attitude that I wouldn't cut them. :)

It really hurt my fingers to hold down the strings!

:D I'm picturing fingernails about 3" long that have started
curving around the bottom of your fingers. I've rubbed many
a letter off of my keyboards (the computer kind) over the
years with long nails. :)

Ha ha! No they weren't nearly as bad as that. Just a nice length that I kept shaped and painted pretty pink. Now they are just short little ragged stubs. :rolleyes:
