I'm planning my first strat build project. I'd like to use a 60s RI body with a modern American deluxe neck. Sort of a hydrid where I use a vintage RI body, but modern neck where I can use a roller nut, jumbo frets and locking tuners.

Before I start buying and end up with a pile of parts, I'd like to know if the modern American deluxe necks are fully compatible with the 60s reissue bodies. (I know not to buy a neck with offset bolts for the deluxe body) And should I be prepared to have to shim the neck? Or would it be wise to buy a body with the micro tilt feature?

I am not 100% sure if it will fit, but I believe it will. I know someone that has a RI so I will ask them. If it does fit you may have to shim it some but that would go for all necks. Make sure you buy a RI pickguard for the RI body. The ReIssues only have 9 screw holes opposed to the 11 on new ones so one hole would have to be redrilled for it to work.

Yes it should fit. The only difference is going to be the radius between a RI neck and the deluxe neck. The deluxe neck may be a 1/4 higher than how the RI neck would sit on a body, so all you would need to do is raise the pickups and the sadles on the bridge.

I thin it will work fine but why you need to have this experiment why you donnot use already compatible body ?
is something special to that old one?
