I have a American Standard Strat, with the tremelo on 2 posts (see signature photo below!) rather than the 6 screw fitting, so it is fully floating. OK, when I Tune up, the strings pull the tremelo forward, so putting out of tune some of the strings.

Are my 3 trem springs in wrong, they are parallel to each other, not angled.

or are they weak ???

Do I need a new set, or an additional one or two springs, as there is room for others.

Everything else is OK and working lovely, appart from being out of tune all the time and sounding terrible......
:(
cheers

Try them making angled, thats how they come from the factory. You can also add more springs.

I will try angleing them tomorrow, and maybe get some more springs. I dont really use the tremelo anyway, so more strings will only make the Strat more stable for me anyway.

have you a pic of how it should look.

Could I also screw the spring plate into the body a bid further, the plate with the ground wire soldered on....

Right, done all that, changed springs position to that in your phot, also screwed the 2 screw in a little, and then re tuned. I actually eventually, let all the strings off, and the tremelo relaxed flat on the body, it was up a few degrees. Re-tuned a bit at a time, so as not to lift the trem, and seems to be ok. I think I was pulling on the strings too much. Just need to get the bridge heights right, but trial and error with that I think.

What are the tuning screws for on the bridge plate?

What screws are you talking about? The screws under the saddles, or the ones on the saddles.

The 6 little screws, with little springs round them, holding each bridge. Usually all in different positions. Why all in diff positions. I know why each bridge is a diff height, but why a different position?

The intonation screws, I must learn how to adjust as some strings are out, sound odd in places.....:o

Those you can just simple screw in and out. I also found out that the hole on the neck plate will allow you to make micro adjustments to the relief of the neck, without much risk of damage. This is just done with an allen wrench.
