Help please!

I have a 22 fret neck. If I put the pickguard on first, the neck extension goes over it and tilts the neck back. However, if i put the neck on first, the pickguard doesn't fit. What do I do??

You maybe able to sand down the botton of the neck some so it fits, or you can cut out the area of the pickguard if you have the tools to do so. Also depending on how high the neck is tilting you may beable just to shim it up some.

Which method do you think is best? If I shim, won't the fingerboard peel away from the neck?

I would start with the shims. Just place them in the neck cavity on the body, then put your neck one. This should give it enough height to clear your pickguard.
