I've been thinking about building another strat from scratch. What wood would you reccomend? I don't know the pros and cons to the different types yet. Thanks

The wood you want the body to be built out of depends on what you are going to use it for. This site here (http://www.jemsite.com/jem/wood.htm) has a bunch of good info on all the different types of wood for guitar bodies. There is a bunch of choices including Basswood, Alder, Ash, Swamp Ash, Mahogany, Walnut, Koa, Korina, Soft Maple, Hard Maple, Spruce, and Lacewood. You can also start to get into bodies with different tops. A good example of this would be the Koa Fender Strats that came out in 2006, I believe those were a alder body with a Koa top. But check out ttp://www.jemsite.com/jem/wood.htm (http://www.jemsite.com/jem/wood.htm) for more everything.
